Brief Update & Ongoing Witness Appeal: Darrell’s Wharf Shooting

Chief Inspector Peter Stableford (Serious Crime Unit) – “Good Afternoon Everyone.

Thank you for your time. I would like to take this opportunity to provide a brief update on the shooting, which occurred yesterday at 7:30pm at Darrell’s Wharf in Warwick. A 56-year-old man was shot multiple times in broad daylight, sustaining potentially life-threatening injuries. He remains at the hospital in the Intensive Care Unit, with his family at his side. The suspects were on a motorcycle.

•            The rider was wearing a dark coloured top and light pants.

•            The passenger (gunman) was wearing a blue jacket and dark pants.

After the shooting, the suspects rode off on the motorcycle heading west along Harbour Road. We are in the very early stages of the investigation and all lines of enquiry remain open, so I will not speculate on any motives or affiliations. All leads are being followed.

The Parish Constables will be in the area this evening and the appeal is for anyone who saw the motorcycle – or with any information – to contact the police on 211, the confidential Crime Stoppers number on 800-8477 or online at www.crimestoppers.bm.

I would specifically ask that residents with any CCTV – please check through their footage from 7pm to 8pm last night (16th June). The suspects had to leave from somewhere, so please don’t think that it is only the immediate area we are interested in. Especially if anyone on Harbour Road has any cameras that overlook the street, or persons with dash cameras drove through, please help us and get in contact.

I would also like to personally thank the members of the public that stopped yesterday to help and provide first aid – your actions are appreciated.

We do understand the pain this causes the families and the fear this causes the community and a plan is in place to ensure we have the necessary resources to fully investigate this matter. We all want the cycle of violence to stop, especially going into the holiday weekend.

Please get in contact with any information you may have, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to help detectives bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Second Update: Wednesday, June 23rd - Darrell's Wharf shooting victim now recovering on a general ward.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
