Around 8:25pm on Friday, March 18, Police attended a reported assault on Court Street in Pembroke. On arrival officers saw the victim, a 55 year old Pembroke man, with his face covered in blood. The officers approached the man and attempted to tend to his injuries; however he refused any assistance. Despite repeated attempts by Police to administer first aid to the Pembroke man, he continued to refuse any medical treatment. A short time later an ambulance arrived on scene and the EMTs, recognizing the apparent seriousness of the victim’s injuries, also urged him to go to the hospital for treatment. However, the 55 year old Pembroke man was adamant that he wanted nothing to do with the hospital or medical treatment and entered his Court Street residence. At 2pm on Tuesday, March 22, Police attended KEMH and learned that the 55 year old victim did attend the hospital on Friday for treatment. The Pembroke man is currently in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition; however, it remains unclear how the 55 year old sustained his injuries.
