At 9:45pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported damage only road traffic collision at the junction of Church Street and Burnaby Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a Mazda car was traveling north on Burnaby Street and a Suzuki jeep was traveling east on Church Street when they collided at the junction. As a result the driver of the jeep lost control of the vehicle, striking a parked Opel car which then collided with a Daihatsu car parked in front of it. However, the jeep did not stop and continued along Church Street. The Suzuki jeep was later located outside the Warwick Bowl on Middle Road in Warwick. The driver of the jeep, a 30 year old Sandy’s parish man, was subsequently arrested for suspicion of impaired driving, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. The driver of the Mazda car, a 51 year old Pembroke man, was also arrested at the scene for suspicion of impaired driving and taken to the Hamilton Police Station; however, he passed the alco-analyser test and was released. No one was injured in either collision; however, all four vehicles were damaged.

Breaking & Entering

At 5:15pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Dock Hill, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 11:25am and 12 noon that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home. The culprit stole:

• $600 in cash,
• foreign currency (2000 South African Rand),
• a gold Amiga watch,
• an antique gold watch with a square face and a brown strap,
• a black Timex watch,
• a Pentax digital camera,
• a silver Compaq laptop computer,
• a white Apple I-Pod with accessories,
• a blue Nokia cellular phone,
• a silver & green Motorola cellular phone,
• a grey & black sports bag,
• and personal items.
