Robbery

At 3:25 this morning, Police attended a reported robbery at King’s Square in St. George’s. It appears that the victim, a 23 year old man (who is a Canadian visitor to the island), was standing with another man at the junction of York Street and King’s Square when he was approached by the suspect who asked for money. The suspect then searched the victim’s pockets, taking approximately $15 in cash and personal items before making good his escape. However, Police subsequently arrested the suspect, a 21 year old Smith’s parish man, a short time later at Ordinance Island after a brief struggle. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Assault

At 12:55 this morning, Police attended a reported assault at Cricket Lane in Sandy’s parish. The victim, a 43 year old Warwick man, stated that he was leaving Somerset Cricket Club while putting money into his back pocket, when he was approached by a man who asked for money. The victim denied the man’s request and as a result a scuffle took place. It appears that approximately four other men took part in assaulting the victim before he was able to escape. The Warwick man then attended KEMH for treatment of a deep wound to his back and a wound to his left arm; however, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. He was later released from the hospital. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Breaking & Entering

At 3:10pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Slippery Hill, St. George’s residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant, a 45 year old St. George’s woman, who stated that she left home at 7:45am and returned at 2:40pm to find two young men inside her house. She struggled with both intruders, scratching the young men’s faces before they were able to make good their escape empty handed. The complainant sustained scratches to her arm in the scuffle. The suspects are described as a dark skinned male of slim build, approximately 5’2” tall, wearing black shorts and a red shirt; and a light skinned male of slim build, wearing a white shirt and blue denim shorts.
