Assault

At 5:55pm on Thursday, Police attended KEMH after a reported assault. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 34 year old Pembroke man, who stated that around 4:15pm he was on Rambling Lane in Pembroke standing next to his girlfriend's car. At the time, a man was acting in an erratic manner near the vehicle. The victim asked the man to calm down and the man walked away; only to return a short time later with a machete. The suspect swung the machete at the Pembroke man a few times before the 34 year old managed to escape. The victim was treated at the hospital for injuries to his hands (left hand - top of middle finger severed and laceration to right hand). He is currently recovering on a general ward. The suspect is described as a light skinned male, approximately 5'7" tall of slim build, with a close haircut. He was clean shaven and is believed to be in his 20s. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Theft

At 2:20pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported theft from Tires Plus on Marsh Lane in Devonshire. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant (warehouse manager) who stated that earlier two men entered the store and asked about purchasing tires. As the manager was assisting one man, the other remained in the warehouse. Then both men left in a light blue car. It was only after the suspects left that the manager discovered that four Pirelli tires were missing. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
