Sun, 2006-08-20

At 6:30pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Point Shares Road, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 3pm and 6:10pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while he was asleep in his bedroom. The culprit stole a Sony 42" flat screen TV, a silver LG cellular phone, a silver DVD player and $20 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service has noticed that several flat screen TVs and other electronic items (including DVD players and laptop computers) have been stolen during recent burglaries. We are advising members of the public to only purchase such items from reputable merchants. Anyone found in possession of stolen property may be prosecuted for receiving stolen property.

Counterfeit Currency

The Bermuda Police Service has once again noticed an increase in counterfeit BDA $100 notes in circulation on the island. We are advising all businesses and individuals to be vigilant when conducting transactions - especially if someone is attempting to use a BDA $100 bill to purchase less than $10 worth of goods or services. To distinguish a genuine BDA $100 note from a counterfeit one, look for the tuna fish watermark and the reflective silver strip.
