The United Kingdom Caribbean Overseas Territories (UKCOT) & Bermuda Law Enforcement Conference will be held from Tuesday, April 12 – Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess hotel. The conference theme is “Working Together to Combat Serious and Organized Crime.” It involves Commissioners of Police, Collectors/Comptrollers of Customs and Chief Immigration Officers from Anguilla, Montserrat, the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Cayman Islands, Turks & Caicos Islands and Bermuda.
The Bermuda Police Service, H.M. Customs and the Department of Immigration will co-host this year’s conference. It is anticipated that approximately 50 delegates and presenters will be in attendance, as well as His Excellency the Governor, Sir John Vereker, Premier the Hon. W. Alex Scott JP MP, the Minister of Labour, Home Affairs & Public Safety the Hon. K.H. Randolph Horton JP MP and the Minister of Finance, the Hon. Paula A. Cox JP MP.
Some of the topics to be discussed at the conference include: CCLEC Initiatives, Customs & Immigration Border Control, CARICOM Crime & Security Task Force Recommendations, Mutual Assistance Between Territories, Caribbean Region & UK/USA/Canada Joint Investigation Opportunities, and Disaster Management – the role of Customs, Immigration and Police.
All media are invited to the Opening Ceremony for the UKCOT & Bermuda Law Enforcement Conference, to be held in the Gazebo Room of the Fairmont Hamilton Princess hotel on Tuesday, April 12.
