Breaking & Entering

Around 5 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Grape Bay Drive, Paget residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that they awoke around 4:45am to find an unknown man in their home. The male complainant chased the suspect, who was able to make good his escape on foot. The culprit stole $200 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 48 year old Louis Robert Barry of Maryland, U.S.A. was as a result of natural causes. Mr. Barry was found in an unresponsive state around 12:35pm on Thursday in a room at a Southampton guest property. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

Theft

Around 5:05 this morning, Police attended a reported theft from Tobacco Bay beach in St. George’s. On arrival officers spoke with a male visitor to the island. He stated that sometime between 3:30am and 4:55am today, his wallet was removed from his clothing which was left in the bar area while he went for a swim. The wallet contained personal items and a LG cellular phone.

At 12:55pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Front Street and Parliament Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a 59 year old female visitor to the island was walking across the pedestrian crossing when a red Isuzu truck traveling along Front Street turned north on to Parliament Street and collided with her.

Update: Incident at Bermuda International Airport

“In relation to the recent complaint made by U.S. visitor Ms. Jo-An Turman regarding her arrival and search at the Bermuda International Airport, the Bermuda Police Service can now confirm that we have received written confirmation that Ms. Turman has decided not to make a formal complaint.

At 11:30pm on Monday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at Butterfield & Vallis on Orange Valley Road in Devonshire. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant (night watchman) who stated that around 11:20pm he observed an unknown man on the premises with a box in his hands.

Mon, 2005-08-22

Around 11:05 this morning, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Church Street near the junction with Wesley Street in the City of Hamilton, involving a car and a pedestrian. It appears that the car, a black Toyota Corolla, was turning west on to Church Street when it collided with a pedestrian on the pedestrian crossing. As a result the car sustained front end damage.

Around 11:25pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Blackwatch Pass in Pembroke near the junction with North Shore Road. Details are unclear at the moment; however, it appears that a motorcycle was in collision with a taxi.

Sat, 2005-08-20

Around 3:45 this morning, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Southside Road and Lower Gates Road in St. George’s. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling east on Southside Road when the rider lost control and collided with a wall. The rider, a 26 year old Hamilton parish man, was taken to KEMH for treatment of facial injuries.
