Cause of Fire at Derelict St. Augustine Lane Building Under Investigation

Shortly before 4:15 this morning, Wednesday 31st March, 2021, police were dispatched to a report of a fire at a derelict two storey building on St. Augustine Lane, Pembroke.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

However, following an initial assessment, with no electricity supply to the premises, the cause is being considered suspicious.

There is nothing to indicate this is linked to the recent spate of fires in the Pembroke area, but that possibility has not been ruled out.

There have so far been no reported injuries as a result of this incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or who may have any information on this matter, is asked to call the main police number, 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers number, 800-8477.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
