Reported Single Vehicle Motorcycle Crash at North Round-A-Bout [Updated]

Around 4:20pm Sunday, May 12th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash at the north round-a-bout near Trimingham Road in Paget.

Details are limited at this time.

However, early information suggests that the rider involved, believed to be a 52 year old Smith’s parish man, was traveling out of the City of Hamilton when he made contact with the north round-a-bout and then struck a wall – sustaining suspected head injuries.

The injured rider was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and an update on his medical condition is anticipated in due course.

Traffic delays are anticipated in the area while the scene is processed.

Update: Monday, May 13th - At last check this morning (May 13th) the 52 year old male motorcyclist injured in a single vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred around 4:20pm Sunday, May 12th at the north round-a-bout near Trimingham Road in Paget was listed in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses that have not already come forward are now encouraged to call Constable Lakila Hart on the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Female Rider Hurt in Collision With Police Vehicle Recovering in Hospital

The investigation regarding a collision involving a police vehicle and a female motorcyclist that occurred around 12:20am Sunday, May 12th at the junction of King Street and Reid Street in the City of Hamilton continues.

At last check Sunday morning the injured female rider – said to be a 29 year old Southampton woman – was conscious and talking. She remains in hospital for further medical assessment and treatment.

It now appears that the police vehicle pursued an unknown motorcyclist along Front Street from the junction with Court Street until the junction with King Street.

Apparently the unknown rider then turned on to King Street and continued through the junction with Reid Street followed by the police vehicle – which unfortunately collided with the 29 year old female motorcyclist as she travelled into the city – with both vehicles ending up further along King Street.

The police vehicle and motorcycle involved were damaged, with traffic diversions in effect for approximately three hours while the scene was processed.

Update: Monday, May 13th - At last check this morning (May 13th) the 29 year old female motorcyclist injured in a collision with a police vehicle that occurred around 12:20am Sunday, May 12th at the junction of King Street and Reid Street in the City of Hamilton was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.

The investigation regarding this collision continues and any witnesses are now encouraged to call Sergeant Raoul Ming on the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Reported Robbery on Woodlands Road in Pembroke Thursday Night

Detectives are continuing their inquiries regarding a reported robbery that occurred around 9pm Thursday, May 9th on Woodlands Road in Pembroke near the junction with Canal Road.

It appears that a 44 year old Pembroke woman was walking along Woodlands Road when she was accosted by an unknown male motorcyclist who grabbed her handbag.

Apparently a struggle ensued and the woman fell to the ground, striking her head. The unknown male motorcyclist then made good his escape with the handbag, which contained a quantity of cash and personal items.

The 44 year old woman was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged.

The suspect is described as a dark complexioned male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a grey helmet with a white T-shirt and riding a black motorcycle.

Any witnesses that have not already come forward or members of the public with any information are asked to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.
