Traffic Offences

A specific initiative is underway by the Bermuda Police Service in conjunction with the Transport Control Department (TCD) to enforce the laws regarding vehicles on our roads. On Tuesday, May 2, 2006 the following traffic checks were conducted, resulting in several tickets being issued to motorists.

7:10am - A TCD officer and 5 Police Traffic Enforcement officers conducted vehicle checks at the Bermuda Aquarium Museum & Zoo car park in Flatts. Tickets were issued for the following offences:

  • Illegal Tint = 21
  • Not wearing seat belts = 15
  • No drivers license = 3
  • Unlicensed vehicle = 4
  • No third party insurance = 3
  • Driving without due care & attention = 1
  • Illegible license plates = 3
  • Illegal use of trade license plates = 2

The TCD officer handed out printed information regarding tint and license plates. Also, several verbal cautions were given.

7:15am - At the junction of Middle Road and South Road in Southampton (in the area of Barnes Corner) tickets were issued by members of the Police Support Unit (PSU) for the following offences:

  • Not wearing seat belts = 15
  • Driving without due care & attention = 1
  • Not wearing crash helmet = 5
  • Unlicensed vehicle = 4
  • No third party insurance = 4
  • Disobeying a stop sign = 2
  • Fraudulent use of documents = 1

There were also 3 people arrested for outstanding warrants.
