Changes At The Bermuda International Airport

Tue, 2006-05-02

The 2006 summer airline schedule shows there will be between 20 and 26 flights each day. This increase in flights and passenger load will put a strain on the parking resources at the Bermuda International Airport (BIA) requiring the parking regulations there to be strictly enforced.

  • The BIA is a designated parking facility. The Department of Airport Operations (DAO) has the authority over parking at this facility which includes all of the airport grounds.
  • Parking for cycles is free - provided it is within the designated cycle parking areas.
  • Parking for all other vehicles is on a Pay & Display basis. Parking costs $1 per hour in the Short Term Lot. The maximum stay allowed in the Short Term Lot is 2 hours. A vehicle can only park in this lot once per day. Pay & Display regulations for the Short Term Lot apply from 8am - midnight.
  • The Long Term Lot is directly in front of the Arrivals area. The cost to park here is $5 per day.
  • If the Short Term or Long Term Lot fill up, there is additional Pay & Display parking in the Overflow Lot at the eastern end of the airport.
  • The only people allowed to park free are those who have been given permission by the DAO. Airport staff have been given "Staff" stickers to park in designated "Staff" lots.
  • Unlike the City of Hamilton, regulations for Loading Zones apply from 8am - midnight, 7 days per week. Commercial goods vehicles only may park in Loading Zones - provided they are actively loading or unloading.
  • Vehicles left unattended directly outside the Departure or Arrivals area of the Terminal have been deemed to be a security threat by International Aviation Authorities and will be dealt with strictly.
