Commissioner of Police Responds to VSB News Report

Sun, 2007-11-18

I, the Commissioner of Police, am concerned and disturbed with a news report that was aired by Defontes Broadcasting group of stations on November 18th and 19th, 2007. The report quotes a clandestine, unnamed Police source who states that the Auditor General Larry Dennis was targeted by Police because he (Larry Dennis) is a director of Hardell Communications (paraphrased) a company affiliated with Harold Darrell.

This media report is simply untrue and unfounded and I challenge VSB to publicly name its “Police Source” as this source may not be in existence or if it does exist; exist only to undermine the reputation of the Service and to legitimize an otherwise impotent story. Also the report calls into question the reputation and integrity of the Bermuda Police Service and Auditor General as there is no credible information to support those allegations made in the VSB report; as the records at the Registrar of Companies does not reflect any relationship between Larry Dennis and Hardell Communications.

I will not allow the Bermuda Police Service to be associated with false accusations that seek to undermine the loyal and committed men and women of the Bermuda Police Service.
