Robbery

Around 10:45pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a robbery on Barrack Close in St. George’s. The victim, a 61 year old St. George’s man, stated that around 10:30pm he locked the RAA club and walked home carrying a bank bag containing the day’s earnings. As he approached his residence he was hit over the head with a piece of wood, causing him to drop the bank bag. While on the ground the victim attempted to prevent the assailant from stealing the bank bag, but the culprit again struck him about the head with the piece of wood before grabbing the bank bag and making good his escape on foot in a westerly direction. The 61 year old St. George’s man lost two teeth as a result of the attack; however, there were no other apparent injuries. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male of slim build, wearing a black hooded jacket and dark coloured long pants. He is believed to be in his mid to late teens. The maroon bank bag contained $350 in cash, as well as an unknown amount of cash and cheques. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.
