Robbery

At 10:40pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported robbery at the junction of Bourne Drive and Tuckers Drive in St. George’s. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 46 year old Pembroke man, who stated that he arrived in the area to deliver a pizza. When he reached the junction, he stopped to telephone the customer for further directions and was assaulted by a man with what is believed to be a piece of wood. The victim was able to escape his assailant and run to a nearby residence. The culprit also made good his escape across the St. George’s Golf Course after taking two sub sandwiches, an apple pie and two sodas from the pizza delivery bag. The Pembroke man was subsequently taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries and is currently in stable condition on a general ward. The suspect is described as approximately 5’6” tall, wearing a scarf around his mouth. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Attempted Robbery

At 9:15pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported attempted robbery on Rose Hill in St. George’s. On arrival officers spoke with the victims, who are both female visitors to the island. They stated that they left Tavern by the Sea restaurant and were walking back to their accommodation when they were approached by a man who demanded money near the St. George’s Esso Service Station. The man then brandished what is believed to be a piece of wood and struck one of the female visitors on the leg. The other female visitor used her walking cane to fend off the assailant while shouting for assistance. The culprit made good his escape on foot towards the Khyber Pass/Wellington Back Road area. The suspect is described as a light brown skinned male, approximately 5’6” tall, of slim build wearing either shades or glasses. He is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s and was wearing dark clothing and a hat. Nothing was taken from the women during the incident.
