Handbag Snatch

At 7:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke, near the junction with Bermudiana Road. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, who is an American visitor to the island. She stated that she was walking along Pitts Bay Road with friends when a man rode by on an auxiliary cycle and grabbed her purse. He then made good his escape traveling west. The victim was not injured. The light tan coloured purse contained $130 in cash, sunglasses, a diamond ring, a ruby ring and personal items. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, riding a red rental cycle with a large wire basket. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Breaking & Entering

At 5:30pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a King Street, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant, who stated that sometime between 7:15am and 4:15pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole $500 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
