Breaking & Entering

Around 11:35pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Hamilton parish guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant, who is a visitor to the island. He stated that at 11:10pm he was awakened by a noise in his room. When he turned on the light, he discovered an unknown man in the room. The man then picked up one of the complainant’s bags and fled, pursued by the complainant. Once outside the suspect threw the bag back at the complainant before making good his escape. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’8” tall, clean shaven with a short haircut. He was wearing dark coloured pants and a brown jacket. Nothing was taken during the incident. Inquiries are underway.

Theft

Around 1:40pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a theft on Parsons Road in Pembroke. The victim, a 30 year old Smith’s parish man, stated that he was riding his motorcycle on Parsons Road when a man on another motorcycle rode alongside him and took the keys from his cycle’s ignition at the junction of Parsons Road and Glebe Road. As the cycle came to a stop, the man rode off for a short distance with the victim’s keys, before turning around and giving the keys back. As the suspect did this, he pulled two gold chains from the Smith’s parish man’s neck and made good his escape. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 5’8” tall, of medium build with braided hair. He was wearing a black helmet, white t-shirt, a dark coloured windbreaker and blue jeans. The suspect was riding a white motorcycle and is believed to be in his 20s. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 4 people arrested for suspicion of impaired driving and 4 incidents of breaking and entering. There were also 12 damage only road traffic collisions and 11 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.

The Bermuda Police Service will be holding a press conference on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the Reserve Police Headquarters in Prospect to unveil the new Tourist Crimes Unit. On hand will be the officer in charge of the TCU and the officers who will be working in the unit.
