Handbag Snatch

Around 7:05pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch on South Road in Smith’s parish. The victims, who are visitors to the island, were riding their rental cycles east on South Road when two men on a motorcycle (also traveling east) rode alongside the lead rental cycle near Watch Hill Road. The motorcycle’s passenger then snatched a purple child’s knapsack from the rental cycle’s basket. The suspects immediately made a u-turn and rode off in a westerly direction, despite being followed for a short distance by the victims. The bag contained $350 in cash, and personal items. The suspects were riding a black Suzuki RC 100 motorcycle and are described as a black male wearing a black half shell helmet and dark coloured long jeans (rider); and a black male wearing a black half shell helmet, dark brown top and dark blue jeans (passenger). Inquiries into this incident are underway. Breaking & Entering

Around 10:35pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Heathcote Hill, Sandy’s parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 5pm and 10pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole a silver HP laptop computer. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there was 1 person arrested for suspicion of impaired driving and 4 incidents of breaking and entering (1 in Devonshire, 1 in Warwick and 2 in Sandy’s parish). There were also 21 damage only road traffic collisions and 6 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
