Assault

Around 1:30am on Saturday, Police attended a reported assault at Horseshoe Bay beach on South Road in Southampton. It appears that the victim, a 22 year old Sandy’s parish man, was involved in an argument near the bar area of the beach house when he was punched in the face. As a result he fell backwards, striking his head on the floor. Police administered first aid to the victim before he was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of a laceration to the back of his head. The injury is not believed to be life threatening. Two suspects, an 18 year old Warwick man and a 19 year old Southampton man were arrested at the scene, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 1am on Saturday, Police attended a reported assault on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that the victim was walking along Reid Street with a female acquaintance when he was involved in an altercation with a group of men near the junction of Reid Street and Queen Street which turned physical. The victim’s cousin, who was seated on his auxiliary cycle nearby, saw the assault taking place and ran to assist. He was confronted by one of the men in the group and a scuffle ensued. On the arrival of Police, the group of men made good their escape on foot. The victim, a 20 year old Devonshire man and his cousin, a 16 year old Devonshire boy, received minor injuries to the face and arms as a result (cuts, abrasions and bruising). Inquiries into this incident are underway.
