Speeding/Injury RTC

Around 3:15am on Wednesday, Police conducting laser speed checks at Woody’s Restaurant on Malabar Road in Sandy’s parish clocked an orange Yamaha V50 at 70 km/h as it traveled west. A motorcycle officer pursued the auxiliary cycle, caused it to stop and issued the rider a speeding ticket. Approximately 15 minutes later, Police were called to attend what appeared to be a serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Overplus Lane and Middle Road, in Sandy’s parish. On arrival officers noticed that the auxiliary cycle involved (an orange Yamaha V50) was the same one clocked at 70km/h earlier that morning. The rider, a 17 year old Sandy’s parish man, sustained facial injuries (his helmet came off in the collision, landing in Overplus Lane) and leg injuries (fractured left leg). The auxiliary cycle (which collided with a wall) was extensively damaged.
The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to focus on speeding and other road traffic offences, and urge the public to slow down. Take heed of the speed limit, road conditions and other motorists when traveling along the island’s roads. Use care, caution and courtesy at all times and help to make our roads safer.
Breaking & Entering
Around 10am on Thursday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at an Agars Hill, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 1pm and 2pm on Monday, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home and stole $200 in cash; and sometime during the day on Wednesday, an unknown culprit stole a portable black Sony CD player. Inquiries into these incidents are underway.
