Attempted Robbery

Sat, 2005-07-02

At 10:30pm on Saturday, Police attended KEMH following a reported attempted robbery. The victim, a 67 year old Warwick man, stated that earlier that evening he picked up a male passenger from Tribe Road #3 in Southampton in his taxi. The passenger asked to be taken to a St. Anne’s Road, Southampton address; however, when the taxi reached the junction of Church Road and Middle Road in Southampton, the man (who was in the front passenger seat) brandished a knife and told the taxi driver he was being robbed. The victim grabbed the man’s arm, but was stabbed once in the left arm before the suspect got out of the taxi and ran east on Middle Road empty handed. The suspect is described as a light skinned male, approximately 6’ tall of medium build with a close haircut. He was wearing a green or yellow button up collared shirt and is believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s. The victim’s injury (laceration to left arm) is not believed to be life threatening. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
