Robbery

At 8:50pm on Friday, Police attended a reported robbery in the garden at the junction of Middle Road and Burnt House Hill in Warwick. The victim, a 71 year old Sandy’s parish man, stated that he was bending over gardening when he was approached by an unknown man who pushed him to the ground and demanded money. The man then held the victim on the ground as he searched his pockets, before making good his escape on foot up Burnt House Hill with approximately $500 in cash. The Sandy’s parish man sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 5’8” tall of solid build, weighing 180-190lbs. with a full beard. He was wearing a white scarf on his head, a shirt, dark coloured pants and is believed to be in his late 20s. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010. We are also interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen a white intermediate open back truck in the area of Burnt House Hill around the time of this incident.

Around 7:05am on Friday, Police attended a reported robbery on Rosemount Avenue in Pembroke. The victim, a 67 year old Pembroke woman, stated that around 6:15am she was walking north along Rosemount Avenue when she noticed a man walking towards her on the same side of the street. As the man passed her he punched the Pembroke woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. The man then demanded the victim’s wallet, which she gave to him. The man punched the 67 year old woman in the face a second time before making good his escape on foot along Rosemount Avenue. A member of the public who saw the Pembroke woman walking shortly after the incident stopped and offered assistance. She was subsequently taken to KEMH for treatment of her injuries, which consisted of scratches to the right arm, a swollen left eye and a cut to the face and released. The leopard print wallet contained $16 in cash and personal items. The suspect is described as a brown skinned male, approximately 5’11” tall, clean shaven with a close haircut. He was wearing a light blue short sleeved t-shirt, dark blue shorts and is believed to be in his late 30s. Police conducted an area search after arriving on the scene, but were unsuccessful in locating the culprit or the stolen property. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
