Robbery

Around 4:25 this morning, Police attended a report of a robbery at the junction of Court Street and Victoria Street in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 30 year old Southampton man, who stated that around 3:45am he was riding his motorcycle with a friend (passenger) in the area when a group of men signaled them over to the parking lot outside Place’s Place (at the junction of Court Street and Dundonald Street). The group then approached the motorcycle, with one of the men demanding money. The victim’s friend immediately ran off, while the Southampton man gave the suspect $50. The suspect then allegedly reached into the victim’s pocket and took another $20. Initially the keys to the victim’s motorcycle were also taken, but they were returned by the suspect who threw them to the ground. As the 30 year old retrieved them, the suspect struck him in the back with his knee. The Southampton man was then allowed to leave the area. The suspect is described as approximately 5’8” tall, of medium build wearing a long white t-shirt and his hair in long braids. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Breaking & Entering

Around 2:35pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at an Oleander Lane, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:15am and 1:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home. The culprit stole a black Compaq laptop computer, a Sony PlayStation 2 console, U.S. $600 in cash and an unknown amount of Canadian currency. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
