Handbag Snatch

At 11:45pm on Monday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch on South Road in Paget, near the junction with Ardsheal Drive. The victim, a 22 year old Warwick woman, stated that she was the passenger on a male friend’s motorcycle traveling west on South Road when a man on another motorcycle rode alongside and took her purse from the cycle’s basket. The suspect then rode off and made good his escape despite being chased. The handbag contained $30 in cash, a Nokia cellular phone and personal items. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male of slim build, wearing baggy blue jeans and a dark yellow shirt, riding a red scooter. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

At 8:30pm on Monday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch on Chancery Lane in Pembroke. The victim, a 54 year old female visitor to the island, stated that at 8:25pm she was walking to Fresco’s Restaurant with friends when she was approached by a man who snatched her wicker handbag and fled on foot towards Front Street. The victim and her friends pursued the man, but he got into a car and made good his escape traveling west on Front Street. The handbag contained a silver Nokia cellular phone and personal items. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 5’6” tall of slim build, with a thin moustache and curly hair. He was wearing dark clothing and is believed to be in his 40s. The vehicle the suspect left the area in is described as a new white hatchback car. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Removed Vehicles

The Bermuda Police Service has noticed that there has been a recent increase in four wheeled vehicle removals. The following cars are still outstanding: license #03106, a white Toyota Yaris; license #29402, a grey Mazda 323; license #38294, a grey Subaru Impreza station wagon; license #32583, a silver/grey Opel Astra; and license #09611, a white Subaru J10. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of these vehicles is asked to contact the Vehicle Crime Unit on 295-0011.
