Disturbance

At 10:45pm on Sunday, Police attended Captain's Lounge on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton following a reported disturbance. On arrival officers observed a crowd of approximately 20 people gathered outside the premises. Seven men were arrested in the area (ranging in age from 19 - 26 years old) for various offences including outstanding warrants and offensive words. They were subsequently taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. The Police Support Unit (PSU) as well as other officers stayed in the area until the crowd dispersed. One officer sustained minor injuries during a brief struggle while arresting one of the individuals involved in the disturbance. The officer was taken to KEMH, treated and released. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 5 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (all men, ranging in age from 19 - 50 years old; the highest reading was 218 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood (failure). The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood). There were also 8 incidents of breaking and entering, 21 damage only road traffic collisions, 4 road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 20 egg throwing incidents.
