Attempted Robbery

At 9:05pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported attempted robbery on Fairyland Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 29 year old Pembroke woman, who stated that she was riding her motorcycle along Serpentine Road when she noticed someone on a motorcycle riding behind her. She continued riding towards Fairylands; however when she was in the area of Fairyland Lane, the man on the cycle behind her rode alongside and attempted to pull her off her cycle, demanding money. The Pembroke woman told the man she did not have any money. At this point, a car exiting Fairylands with two female occupants scared off the suspect. The suspect is described as a brown skinned male of slim build, approximately 5'8" tall with a neatly trimmed full beard. He was wearing a navy blue tracksuit top with white stripes, dark blue jeans and a black helmet with a black & silver tinted visor. He was also riding a black scooter type cycle and is believed to be in his 40s. The suspect fled the scene empty handed and the victim was uninjured. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Injury RTC

Around 7:10pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Tamarisk Hill involving two motorcycles. It appears that one motorcycle was traveling west and the other motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when they collided. The riders of both motorcycles, a 44 year old Pembroke man and a 36 year old Hamilton parish man, were injured; the Pembroke man sustaining a fractured right wrist and right ankle while the Hamilton parish man sustained an injury to his right foot and right hip. They were taken to KEMH for treatment of their injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Breaking & Entering

At 10:25pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at Arnold's Supermarket on Somerset Road in Sandy's parish. On arrival officers searched the premises with the complainant and located the suspect, a 20 year old Sandy's parish man, hiding in a storeroom. The Sandy's parish man was subsequently arrested, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. It appears that nothing was taken from the store. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there was 1 person arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 4 incidents of breaking and entering. There were also 23 damage only road traffic collisions and 5 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
