Attempted Robbery

Around 7:45pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported robbery at Arnold's Express (the old Dismount Robinson's store) at the junction of Front Street and King Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 51 year old Sandy's parish man, who is the store manager. He stated that around 7:40pm two men entered the store and attempted to steal money from the cash register. A machete was brandished by one of the men, and a struggle ensued. The two men then fled the store on foot, empty handed. One of the suspects may have been injured in the struggle, while the store manager sustained a small wound to his back. The suspects are described as light skinned males; one is 5'10" tall, weighing around 170 pounds with a stubbly beard and the other is 5'9" tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds with facial hair (unshaven). Both men were wearing hooded tops with the hoods pulled over their heads and are believed to be in their mid to late 30s. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

The Bermuda Police Service is advising all store owners/managers to take the appropriate security measures to protect themselves and their places of business in light of this recent bold attempted robbery.

Breaking & Entering

At 7:25pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a breaking and entering at a Southampton guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who is a visitor to the island. He stated that sometime between 6pm and 7pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his room while he was in the shower and stole U.S. $500 in cash and a gold wedding ring. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service will hold a press conference today at 2pm in the Reserve Police Headquarters (Prospect) regarding the investigation into recent attempted sexual assaults on women. All media are invited to attend.
