Medical Emergency

Around 4:25pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported medical emergency at a South Road, Smith's parish property. On arrival officers were informed that a man had fallen off a nearby cliff. The victim, a 37 year old man, was observed lying motionless on a ledge approximately 25 feet below. The victim received medical assistance at the scene. The Bermuda Fire Service eventually managed to rescue the 37 year old man from the ledge. He was rushed to KEMH via ambulance where he is currently in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Robbery

At 6:45pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported robbery on Twin Lane Drive in Pembroke. The victim, a 70 year old taxi driver from St. George's, stated that around 6:30pm he was traveling along North Shore Road in Pembroke when he picked up two men who indicated they needed a taxi. The men asked to be taken to Twin Lane Drive and as the taxi reached the top of the hill, one of the suspects grabbed the taxi driver around the neck. The second suspect got out of the taxi, went around to the driver's side door and pulled the keys out of the ignition while searching the 70 year old St. George's man's pockets demanding money. During the struggle the taxi driver managed to sound the vehicle's horn alerting nearby residents. One of the suspects hit the 70 year old in the back of the head before both men made good their escape on foot. Area residents then attended the scene and assisted the taxi driver. He was taken to KEMH, treated for soreness to the back of the head and released. The suspects are described as a light skinned male of average build, approximately 5'3" tall with a close haircut; and a dark skinned male approximately 5'4" tall. Both men were wearing dark coloured jackets and long dark coloured pants. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 3 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 11 incidents of breaking and entering. There were also 17 damage only road traffic collisions and 9 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
