Disturbance

Sun, 2006-03-26

At 11:35pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported disturbance at a Railway Trail, Southampton residence. It appears that around 11:20pm two vehicles drove on to the property. Several individuals got out of the vehicles brandishing machetes as well as other blunt/edged weapons and proceeded towards the lower apartment, which was occupied by several young men and women. The group brandishing the weapons demanded that the occupants of the apartment come outside, before damaging a bathroom window and injuring a pit bull terrier which was tied up in the back yard; however, no one exited the apartment and therefore no one was injured during the disturbance. The suspects then made good their escape. The dog was taken away by the Government Veterinarian for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 12:25am on Saturday, Police attended KEMH after a reported disturbance at the Southampton Rangers Club on South Road in Southampton. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 19 year old Southampton man, who stated that he arrived at the club around 10pm on Friday and was standing outside by himself when he was approached by a group of men. The group of men then proceeded to beat the 19 year old about the body before making good their escape. The victim was transported to KEMH in a private car, where he was treated for a laceration to the top of his head, swelling to his left leg and pain in his right hip and released. However, the Southampton man declined to prosecute his assailants.
