Handbag Snatch

At 11pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch at a Paget guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the victims, who are visitors to the island. The couple stated that as they walked back to their room from a restaurant on the premises, an unknown man grabbed the female victim's purse and made good his escape on foot. The small black & grey purse contained a digital camera, U.S. $600 in cash and personal items. The couple was not injured and they were unable to provide a good description of the suspect. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Attempted Robbery

Around 1:20am on Sunday, Police attended a reported attempted robbery on Tribe Lane in Devonshire, near the junction with North Shore Road. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 57 year old taxi driver from Warwick, who stated that at 12:15am he was dispatched to pick up a fare on Tribe Lane. When he arrived in the area, three men approached the taxi and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the Warwick man managed to call for help on the taxi's radio and the suspects then made good their escape on foot, heading south towards Glebe Road. The taxi driver was not injured and the suspects fled empty handed. The suspects are described as black men wearing white shirts and denim jeans. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Missing Person - Found

The Bermuda Police Service would like to the thank the public for their help in locating Elizabeth Carter Baldwin. She was found safe and well at the Grotto Bay Hotel on Sunday afternoon.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 6 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (4 men & 2 women; 4 of them were involved in collisions) and 10 burglaries (2 in Hamilton parish, 1 in St. George's, 2 in Smith's parish, 1 in Warwick, 1 in Devonshire, 2 in Southampton and 1 in Paget). There were also 14 damage only road traffic collisions, 17 road traffic collisions resulting in injury (8 involved tourists), 25 removals (9 were rental cycles), and 15 reports of loud music.

In light of the recent increase in loud music reports, the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind the public to be considerate of others when playing music, especially late at night or early in the morning. Music that can be heard more than 100 feet away from its source to the annoyance of 2 or more people (who report it as such) is an offence.
