Around 10:40am on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Burnt House Hill involving two cars. It appears that a white Daihatsu Charade was traveling west on Middle Road when the driver, a 20 year old Devonshire man, attempted to negotiate a right hand bend and lost control, crossing into the eastbound lane and colliding with a white Mazda traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the Mazda, a 39 year old Sandy's parish woman, was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of pain to her neck. Two of her passengers received relatively minor injuries; a 73 year old woman (pain to chest and bruising to right leg) and a 14 year old Sandy's parish girl (cut lip) while the third passenger, a 5 year old Sandy's parish girl, sustained no apparent injuries. The 73 year old woman was taken to KEMH, treated and released. The 14 year old Sandy's parish girl and the 5 year old Sandy's parish girl apparently did not attend the hospital. The Devonshire man sustained minor lacerations to the right side of his forehead. He was taken to KEMH, treated and released. Both vehicles received extensive front end damage. Traffic was diverted away from the scene for approximately an hour following the collision. The 20 year old Devonshire man was ticketed for driving in a manner dangerous and driving without a seatbelt and his car was impounded. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
