Burglary

Sat, 2006-06-10

Around 6 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at a Hamilton parish guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 41 year old visitor to the island. He stated that around 5:30am he was awoken by a knock at the door of his room. The suspect then forced his way into the room brandishing a machete and demanded money. The suspect took a black waist pouch containing a passport and $300 in cash before making good his escape. The 41 year old visitor was not injured. The suspect is described as approximately 6'3" tall of slim build wearing a helmet. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Assault

Around 5:40 this morning, Police attended a reported assault at the East Broadway Shell Gas Station in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 20 year old Pembroke man, who stated that he was inside the service station's store when he was attacked by a group of men. They punched him about the head and body, and one of the men stabbed the Pembroke man in the back. The group of men then left in the car they arrived in. The victim sustained 4 stab wounds to the back as well as cuts and bumps to the head. He was taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries and later released. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Suspicious Circumstances

Around 4:25 this morning, Police attended a report of a man lying in the road at the junction of Cobbs Hill Road and Marl Lane in Paget. On arrival officers observed the victim, a 33 year old Paget man, on his back outside his Cobbs Hill Road residence. He appeared to be intoxicated and did not respond to officers attempts to communicate with him; however, he was breathing. The Paget man sustained a laceration to the back of his head and was taken via ambulance to KEMH. He is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. It appears that the Paget man fell from the porch of the residence's upper apartment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
