Injury RTC

Around 5:10pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Somerset Road in Sandy's parish, near the junction with Beacon Hill Road involving a van and a pedestrian. It appears that the van was traveling west on Somerset Road when the driver lost control, crossed the road and collided with a tree; the vehicle then came back across the road, striking a female pedestrian and colliding with a wall. The pedestrian, a 64 year old Sandy's parish woman, sustained a fractured hand as well as cuts & abrasions to her arm and head. She was treated at KEMH and later released. The driver of the van, a 37 year old Warwick man, sustained bruised ribs. The van received extensive front end damage. Traffic was diverted away from the area following the collision. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact PC Mark Monk at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Burglary

At 11:40am on Wednesday, Police attended a reported burglary at the North Village Football Club in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the club's president who stated that sometime between 12 noon on Sunday, May 28 and 6pm on Monday, May 30, 2006 an unknown culprit gained entry into a container on the premises. The culprit stole a red Troy Built generator and assorted bottles of alcohol. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
