Fatal RTC

Around 8:30 this morning, Police received a report of a serious single vehicle road traffic collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Adams Lane. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling east on Middle Road when the rider, a 46 year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with an embankment on the left side of the road. The victim was rushed to KEMH via ambulance and subsequently pronounced dead at 8:47am by an on call physician at the hospital. No further information will be released until the next of kin have been notified. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact the Traffic Enforcement Unit on 299-4265. Traffic was diverted around the scene for approximately 2 hours at the junction of Middle Road and Khyber Pass and the junction of Middle Road and Longford Road. This marks the 9th road traffic fatality for 2006.

Robbery

Around 5:40pm on Monday, Police attended a reported robbery on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish, near the junction with East Point Lane. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a (reportedly) middle aged Devonshire man, who stated that around 5:30pm he was riding a rental cycle west on North Shore Road when an unknown man rode alongside him. The suspect kicked the Devonshire man, causing him and the rental cycle to fall to the ground. The suspect then approached the victim on foot and punched him in the face while he was on the ground. The suspect removed a tan coloured leather wallet containing $40 in cash and personal items before making good his escape on foot. The victim was taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries and subsequently released. A short time later, officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect, a 27 year old St. George’s man on Workmen’s Lane in Hamilton parish. He was taken to the Hamilton Police Station and detained. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.

Weekend Activity

Over the Labour Day holiday weekend, there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 5 reported burglaries. There were also 22 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 7 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
