Around 11:15pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Harbour Road in Warwick, near the junction with Longford Road. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling west on Harbour Road when the rider, an 18 year old Warwick man, overtook a taxi also traveling west and lost control attempting to negotiate a bend in the road; the motorcycle then crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a wall. As a result, the Warwick man was thrown over the wall and landed on the rocks approximately 20 feet below, before ending up in the water. The taxi stopped at the scene and the occupants of the taxi, a couple visiting from overseas, got out of the taxi, climbed down the wall and assisted the victim until paramedics arrived. The 18 year old was then rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of head & abdominal injuries as well as lacerations to the body. He is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The motorcycle was impounded by Police. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact PC Samaroo on 234-1010.

The Bermuda Police Service would like to commend the actions of the taxi driver and her passengers, for their courage and perseverance in coming to the aid of the victim.
