Assault

At 10am on Sunday, Police received a report of an assault. The victim, a 53 year old Hamilton parish man, stated that the assault took place between 12:30am and 12:45am that day at the Hamilton Parish Workmen's Club. It appears that the Hamilton parish man was outside the Hamilton Parish Workmen's Club when he saw two men fighting. He attempted to intervene when the suspect, a 29 year old Devonshire man, threatened him with physical harm if he did not leave the men involved in the altercation alone. The victim left the men alone; however, despite this the suspect kicked the 53 year old twice in the face. The Hamilton parish man fell to the ground, then got up and went inside the club. When he exited the club a short time later, he was attacked again by the suspect, who punched him in the face several times. The victim fell to the ground again but this time managed to make good his escape. The suspect subsequently made good his escape. The victim sustained bruising and swelling to his face and was advised to attend the hospital for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Missing Person

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to ask for the public's assistance in locating 33 year old Andrew Laing. Mr. Laing, a Jamaican national was last seen on Friday, October 6, 2006 and is being sought regarding immigration offences. He is described as approximately 5'8" tall, dark skinned with a close haircut. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 33 year old Andrew Laing is asked to contact Police on 515-0042.

Missing Juvenile - Found

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 15 year old Mandela Smith. He was brought to the Somerset Police Station by a family member at 11:15am on Saturday safe and well.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 8 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 4 reported burglaries (1 in Devonshire, 1 in Pembroke, 1 in Warwick and 1 in Southampton). There were also 20 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 7 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
