Robbery

Around 9:15pm on Friday, Police received a report of a robbery on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke. The victim, a 37 year old Pembroke man, stated that around 8:30pm he was walking along Pitts Bay Road when he stopped and sat on a wall near The Fairmont Hamilton Princess hotel to have a phone conversation. While sitting on the wall, four men on two motorcycles drove past, stopped, turned around and rode towards him. Two of the men got off the cycle they were on and approached the Pembroke man demanding money. The victim gave the suspects his wallet and then all four men rode off, making good their escape traveling east on Pitts Bay Road. The wallet contained $180 in cash and personal items. The victim was not injured. The two main suspects are described as a dark skinned man, 6’5” tall of slim build wearing a dark coloured coat and a grey helmet; and a dark skinned man, approximately 5’10” tall of average build wearing a dark coloured coat and a blue helmet. Both men are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s and were on a red scooter. The victim was unable to describe the other two suspects who were riding a blue scooter. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

At 8:55pm on Friday, Police received a report of a robbery. The victim, who is a visitor to the island, stated that earlier he was walking from Front Street in the City of Hamilton to a Between the Walls Lane, Pembroke residence. As he reached the vicinity of Smatt’s Cycles on Pitts Bay Road, two motorcycles which were traveling east, pulled up next to him. There were two men on each cycle. One of the men demanded money from the 41 year old visitor and brandished a knife. The victim gave the suspect $70 in cash and then the men rode off, making good their escape traveling east on Pitts Bay Road. The suspects were described as four black men; three wearing dark coloured coats and one wearing a red coat. The victim was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
