Robbery - Around 4pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported robbery on Church Bay beach in Southampton. It appears that three female friends were at the beach when an unknown man walked past and grabbed a beach bag belonging to one of the women. The suspect ran off, chased by two of the women and a male beachgoer who heard their screams for help. One of the women caught up to the male suspect as he got on a motorcycle and attempted to get her bag back; however the offender brandished a bladed article and fled the scene along with another male who was waiting on a separate motorcycle. Police were on mobile patrol in the area at the time and pursued the suspects. The secondary suspect, a 22 year old Warwick man, was caught on the Fairmont Southampton Resort property and taken into Police custody. The main suspect, a 23 year old Devonshire man, was apprehended at his residence a few hours later. No one was injured during the incident. Inquiries are ongoing.

Missing Juvenile

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 17 year old Tynieka Bean (pictured right). The teenager was reported missing on Friday, May 1st but has been seen more recently in the Somerset area. She is described as dark skinned, approximately 5’6” tall with dark brown hair and reddish brown highlights, weighing around 200 pounds. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 17 year old Tynieka Bean is encouraged to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.

The Bermuda Police Service will hold a press conference regarding policing for the May 24th holiday on Thursday, May 21st in the PMR office, Prospect Devonshire. All media are encouraged to attend.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 4 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 7 reported burglaries. There were also 10 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 2 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 1 vehicle taken without its owner’s consent.
