Handbag Snatch - Around 11:30pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch on Trimingham Road in Paget. The victim, a 33 year old Paget woman, stated that she was riding south on Trimingham Road when an unknown man on a motorcycle rode up and grabbed her handbag. As a result the Paget woman and her motorcycle fell to the ground and the suspect made good his escape with the handbag. The victim sustained abrasions to her arms and legs; however, she declined to go to KEMH for treatment. The black handbag contained a quantity of cash, a BlackBerry cellular phone, a Nokia cellular phone and personal items. A member of the motoring public stopped to assist the victim following the incident and the Bermuda Police Service would like to commend that individual for their actions. Inquiries are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Injury RTC

Around 12:45pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Reid Street and Burnaby Street in the City of Hamilton involving a van and a pedestrian. It appears that the van was traveling west on Reid Street and attempted to turn left on to Burnaby Street. The pedestrian, a 65 year old Hamilton parish woman, was walking across the pedestrian crossing on Burnaby Street when the collision occurred. The victim sustained abrasions to her body. She was taken to KEMH via ambulance, treated for her injuries and released. The driver of the van, a 66 year old St. George’s man, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
