The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and those traveling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, April 27th – Monday, May 4th 2009 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 15
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 42
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 7
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 17
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: St. George’s = 1, Smith’s parish = 1, Devonshire = 1, Pembroke = 11, Paget = 1 and Warwick = 2.

The majority of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles, with 3 cars, 1 truck & 1 pedal cycle also reported stolen during the period. Of the 17 vehicles reported stolen, 6 were subsequently recovered - consisting of 1 of the cars, 3 motorcycles, the truck and the pedal cycle.

Missing Juvenile - Found

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 16 year old Tiffany Johnson of Pembroke. She returned home of her own accord around 6pm Monday and is safe and well.

Missing Person - Mehdi David Yahi

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance in locating 30 year old Mehdi David Yahi (pictured right). Mr. Yahi, a French national visiting the island is described as a white male, approximately 5’7” tall of slim build, clean shaven with black hair. He apparently arrived in Bermuda on Sunday, January 25th 2009 via British Airways. It appears that Mr. Yahi was traveling alone and was last seen around 8pm on Saturday, January 31st at the Fairmont Southampton Resort where he apparently attended the Heather Nova concert. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Mehdi David Yahi is encouraged to contact the main Police number, 295-0011.
