Vehicle Fire

At 4:50am on Sunday, Police attended a report of vehicles on fire on York Street in St. George’s. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene and extinguished the blaze, which engulfed two cars parked outside of Robertson’s Drug Store. Both vehicles were destroyed by the flames. An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire; arson has not been ruled out. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Injury RTC

Around 5:40am on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on Middle Road when the rider, a 38 year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with a residence in the area. The Pembroke man sustained serious head and internal injuries. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at KEMH in critical condition. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Robbery

Around 5:40pm on Friday, Police received a report of a robbery on Somerset Long Bay in Sandy’s parish. The victim, a 61 year old Sandy’s parish man, stated that around 5:30pm that day he was fishing in the area when he was approached by two unknown men. One of the men brandished a bladed article and demanded money from the victim, who handed over his wallet containing a quantity of cash and personal items. The suspects then ran off in a southerly direction. The Sandy’s parish man was not injured. One of the suspects is described as approximately 5’ tall of medium build wearing long blue jeans, a long sleeved dark coloured jacket and a black helmet with a dark coloured visor; the other is described as approximately 5’11” tall of slim build wearing long black jeans, a long sleeved black jacket and a black helmet with a dark coloured visor. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

There were two other robberies that occurred in the Sandy’s parish area on Friday afternoon with similar circumstances that may be connected to the Somerset Long Bay incident. Inquiries into all three matters are ongoing.
