Roads Policing Unit Statistics

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and those traveling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, March 16th – Monday, March 23rd 2009 there were:

* Reported Injury Collisions = 24
* Reported Damage Only Collisions = 42
* Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 5
* Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 11
* Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: Devonshire = 1, Pembroke = 7, Southampton = 2 and Sandy’s parish = 1.

All of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles. Of the 11 vehicles reported stolen, none were subsequently recovered.
Witness Appeal - Fatal RTC

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Middle Road in Southampton in the area of Jew’s Bay around 5:40am Saturday which claimed the life of 38 year old Moses Jacobs. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.
Missing Person
The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance in locating 55 year old St. Claire McDonald Augustus. Mr. Augustus, who is of no fixed abode, was last seen on Thursday, February 26th 2009 at Friswells Hill in Devonshire. He is known to frequent the Salvation Army on North Street in Pembroke and was also sleeping in a container in that area. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 55 year old St. Claire McDonald Augustus is encouraged to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.

We have reason to be concerned for his well-being and would like to locate Mr. Augustus as a matter of urgency.
Missing Juvenile
The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance in locating 16 year old Travis Malcolm Lowe. The teenager is described as light skinned, 5’3” tall weighing 110 pounds with black hair. He is known to frequent the Happy Valley Road Pembroke area and was reported missing on Thursday, February 26th 2009. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Travis Malcolm Lowe is encouraged to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.
