Robbery

At 10:10pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a robbery at a Rose Hill Road, Southampton residence. The victims, a 66 year old Southampton man and his wife, a 66 year old Southampton woman, stated that at 9:50pm they arrived home and parked their car in the driveway. At that time, an unknown man approached the car brandishing a weapon and demanding money. The Southampton man did not give in to the suspect’s demands and was punched in the face, sustaining a laceration. The assailant then grabbed a black bag containing a DVD and personal items from the back seat before making good his escape. The victim declined medical treatment. His wife was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’6” tall of medium complexion wearing dark coloured clothing and a knitted hat. Police subsequently impounded a motorcycle from the Granaway Heights Road area that may have been used by the suspect in the robbery. The motorcycle was recovered after a pursuit by Police; but the rider abandoned it and managed to make good his escape on foot. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
Injury RTC/Impaired Driving
Around 1:20am on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Kindley Field Road in St. George’s (in the vicinity of Stone Crusher Corner), involving an ambulance and a car. It appears that the ambulance was traveling west on Kindley Field Road and the car was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The driver of the car, a 27 year old St. George’s man, was not injured; however his front seat passenger, a 24 year old St. George’s woman, complained of pain to her neck. She was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The St. George’s man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The ambulance driver, a 36 year old Smith’s parish man, was not injured. The ambulance received front end damage while the car was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
