Injury RTC/Impaired Driving

Around 3:40am on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Somerset Road in Sandy’s parish near the junction with the Railway Trail (Somerset Bridge area) involving a car and an auxiliary cycle. It appears that the car was traveling east on Somerset Road and the auxiliary cycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the cycle, a 17 year old Warwick woman sustained cuts & abrasions to her legs and feet. The driver of the car, a 54 year old Sandy’s parish woman, was not injured. Both vehicles received moderate front end damage. The 17 year old Warwick woman was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Damage Only RTC/Impaired Driving

At 6:40pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported damage only single vehicle road traffic collision at the junction of Middle Road and Store Hill in Smith’s parish. It appears that a car was traveling east on Middle Road when the driver, a 46 year old Smith’s parish man attempted to negotiate a left hand bend, lost control and collided with a wall. The Smith’s parish man was not injured; however, the car received damage its front end and left side. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 5:30am on Sunday, Police attended a reported damage only single vehicle road traffic collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Rebecca Road. It appears that a car was traveling west on Middle Road when the driver, a 33 year old Southampton woman, lost control and collided with a wall. The Southampton woman was not injured; however the left side of the car and the wall were extensively damaged. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 8 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (Alco-analyser test results: lowest failure reading = 131mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood; highest failure reading = 228mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. Legal limit is 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood). There were also 3 reported burglaries, 21 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 3 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 9 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
