Injury RTC - At 4:05pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Camp Hill involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. It appears that the victim, a 10 year old Southampton girl and her brother were walking across the pedestrian crossing opposite Heron Bay Marketplace, as traffic in both directions had stopped to allow them to cross the road. The rider of the motorcycle, an 18 year old Warwick man, was traveling east on Middle Road, overtook the eastbound line of traffic and collided with the 10 year old girl. The victim sustained bruising to her right foot and abdomen while her brother was apparently not injured. The motorcyclist was not injured; however his cycle received minor front end damage. The 18 year old Warwick man was issued a ticket for driving without due care & attention. A court appearance is anticipated. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 2:35pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Corkscrew Hill in Devonshire involving a motorcycle and a van. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling east on Middle Road and the van was exiting Tribe Road #3 when the vehicles collided. The rider of the cycle, a 39 year old Warwick man, sustained bruising and abrasions to his left forearm and right hand. The driver of the van, a 51 year old Sandy’s parish man, was not injured. The cycle received extensive damage to its left side while the van received moderate front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 9:30am on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke near the junction with Old Slip Lane involving a Bermuda Fire Service vehicle and a heavy truck. It appears that the fire truck and the heavy truck were traveling in opposite directions on Pitts Bay Road when they collided as both vehicles attempted to negotiate a bend in the road. The driver of the fire truck sustained a bruised right hand while the other passengers in the vehicle were not injured. The driver of the heavy truck, a 59 year old Hamilton parish man and his front seat passenger, a 49 year old Smith’s parish man, were not injured. The fire truck received moderate front end damage while the heavy truck received relatively minor front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
