February 24 - Weekly Review

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the island's roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and those traveling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, February 16th - Monday, February 23rd 2009 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 11
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 35
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 2
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners' Consent = 11
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: Hamilton parish = 1, Smith's parish = 1, Devonshire = 1, Pembroke = 5, Warwick = 2 and Sandy's parish = 1.

All of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles (including 1 mini motocross cycle). Of the 11 vehicles reported stolen 2 were subsequently recovered.

Burglary

Around 10:05pm on Monday, Police received a report of a burglary at an Orchard Grove, Pembroke residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 9:25am and 2:40pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 8:30pm on Monday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Perry Drive, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that sometime over the weekend, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while she was overseas. The culprit stole two 'Insignia' TVs. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
