Roads Policing Unit Statistics

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the island's roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and those traveling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, January 26th - Monday, February 2nd 2009 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 11
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 35
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 3
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners' Consent = 14
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: Hamilton parish = 1, Smith's parish = 1, Pembroke = 8, Warwick = 3 and Sandy's parish = 1.

All of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles. Of the 14 vehicles reported stolen 2 were subsequently recovered.

Missing Person

Mehdi David YahiThe Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for the public's assistance in locating 30 year old Mehdi David Yahi. Mr. Yahi, a French national visiting the island is described as a white male, approximately 5'7" tall of slim build, clean shaven with black hair (pictured right). He apparently arrived in Bermuda on Sunday, January 25th 2009 via British Airways and was reported missing at 9:10am Monday after some of his personal effects were found on the beach at Chaplin Bay in Warwick. A subsequent search of the coastline in that area on Monday by Marine Police and land based Police units failed to locate Mr. Yahi; however, officers are continuing with their efforts to find him. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Mehdi David Yahi is encouraged to contact the main Police number, 295-0011.
