The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 30 year old Aquil Richardson of Southampton. Mr. Richardson was fatally shot around 9pm on Wednesday, December 26th in the Camp Hill, Southampton area, while a 25 year old Warwick man was also shot in the lower extremities. The Warwick man is currently in stable condition at KEMH. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

The 24 year old Pembroke man shot and wounded in the Camp Hill, Southampton area around 12:20am on Tuesday, December 25th remains in stable condition at KEMH.

Investigations into the shooting on Christmas Day and the shootings on Boxing Day are ongoing. A team of 13 officers from the Serious & Organized Crime Unit with support from the Intelligence Unit and the Forensic Support Unit are conducting inquiries into the December 25th matter and a team of 12 officers with similar support are conducting inquiries into the December 26th matter.

Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone who may have any information about these shootings to call 299-4323 or the confidential 24 hour Crime Stoppers Hotline on 1-800-623-8477. We also encourage the community to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious individuals or activities occurring in their neighbourhoods to Police on the main number, 295-0011 or 911 in an emergency.

The Bermuda Police Service will continue to actively patrol various areas around the island where the potential for disturbances may exist.

Officers monitoring Kindley Field Road in St. George’s Wednesday afternoon arrested several individuals on suspicion of drug possession and for outstanding warrants. Also, an individual was arrested for possessing a bladed article at that location.

There has been a great deal of public & media interest regarding these latest incidents. The Bermuda Police Service will continue to keep the media and the public informed; however, our greatest priority is the integrity of our investigations into these matters.
