Appeal for Witnesses in Rhiana Moore Murder

Wed, 2008-06-11

The Bermuda Police Service would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank all those persons who have thus far come forward and provided assistance with the Rhiana Moore murder investigation.

The investigation continues to progress under the leadership of Detective Chief Inspector Antoine Daniels and a team of police detectives. To date, there have been in excess of 100 witness statements recorded by investigators, as well as numerous positive interactions with potential witnesses and persons of interest. Although the Bermuda Police Service is pleased with the co-operation of the community so far, we would like to make a further appeal encouraging those individuals with any information to contact police. As I have stated previously and will continue to do is that, “the Bermuda Police Service’s capacity to deal with crime depends to a large extent upon its relationship with the community.” Recently in Bermuda , this belief appears to have been accepted by many citizens, resulting in a number of positive interactions that have advanced the Rhiana Moore and recent major investigations to their current status.

In addition to thanking members of the community for their assistance and efforts thus far, the Bermuda Police Service is encouraging citizens to remain patient, act responsibly and respect the feelings of the Moore family and friends, while police continue their investigations. This request is made in view of the various rumors circulating within the community regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of Rhiana Moore.

Anyone who has any information, whether they believe it to be significant or not, are asked to call the BPS Serious Crime Unit at telephone number 299-4315 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-623-8477.
