Update - Sudden Death of Rhiana Moore

Mon, 2008-06-02

Chief Inspector Antoine Daniels, Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Unit

Police are continuing their investigations into the sudden death of 14-year old Rhiana Moore and are pleased with the progress made thus far.

Later this week a number of forensic experts will be arriving on island to provide assistance and support to investigators.

There has been a high level of assistance received from the public to date; however, there is clearly evidence to suggest that a number of persons are avoiding contact with investigators and these persons in some cases are in possession of important information that may prove critical to the success of the investigation.

The main reason for this press conference today is to make a more specific appeal regarding the following 3 areas.

Police require the gentleman who we believe first discovered the body of victim Rhiana Moore on Saturday morning, to make contact with Police immediately as well as any persons that dumped trash or visited the domestic waste drop-off at the Tynes Bay Incinerator in Devonshire, between 8am – 9am on Saturday 31st May 2008; and in particular the drivers or owners of the following described vehicles;

  • A Champagne gold/tan colored older model RAV 4 Toyota motor car.
  • A White colored Renault Scenic station wagon type motor car.
  • And lastly, a white colored intermediate sized white enclosed type van.

In addition, investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen a blue car in the eastern areas that may have been parked in a secluded spot or traveling in or towards a secluded area(s).

Those with any information are asked to contact Police at 299-4315 or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-623-8477.

In closing, I wish to thank those persons who have so far provided assistance to date. Also the Bermuda Police Service requests that the community refrain from circulating any pictures of possible suspects vehicles electronically and advises that any such photos be forwarded directly to them.
